Students' Profile

Atul Singh

My name is Atul Singh. After graduation I joined Doon University for the Master Program in Economics. I am glad that I am in the first batch of M.A. Economics, 2010 of Doon University.
My main purpose of entering in the economics field is to be aware of current Economic and Development issues of the country and the ways we may contribute in the ongoing debate on development. After coming in Doon University, I felt that the University provides an adequate environment for the purpose.
The course is designed with an analytical as well as applied framework based on the contemporary challenges of the real world, which would help us to handle real situations. The faculties are always ready to guide the students in a number of ways both academically and culturally. I think this program will help in shaping my career.

Peeyush Sharma

I joined MA Economics at Doon University after completing Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) under HNB Garhwal University. I always felt that there is some missing links between our human resources and the efforts towards their proper utilisation. Unsuccessful planning and mis/under utilisation of resources are the main problems we are facing currently, as I perceive. I hope to achieve adequate knowledge on these issues after studying Economics so that I can become an active citizen in the development process of my country. The syllabus of Doon University is interesting and I feel happy to be a member of the first batch of this course at the university. I am quite content with the overall academic ambience, cooperation of our faculty members and the broad vision of the university to become a centre of excellence in academics. After MA Economics, I want to work for some time as a researcher in business sector and thereafter want to pursue higher studies in economics.

Meenakshi Dhyani

Coming to Doon University has been a turning point in my life, when i first saw the campus i couldnt take my eyes off it. Its mesmerising beauty, surrounded by the saal forest, makes you fall in love with it.
I have always been interested in economics as an art as well as the social science aspect of it. The faculty made me go pursue a better view of it, the more i learn about it, the more i realise the beauty of being into the social science. As the University is residential, we have full acess to the faculty and the campus is lively as well. Life here is at the threshold of fun.

Vivek Ahuja

Vivek Ahuja, Student of School of Social Sciences, pursuing M.A. Economics (2010-2012 batch) from Doon University. After completing my bachelor’s degree in the field of management I had various job offers and various institute offer to pursue my Masters degree in management like IIPM and ICFAI but I always had a spark of doing something different.
Choosing my career in Economics was entirely my decision. The reason why I choose economics as my career is because i wanted to live in Developed India. Joining this Doon University was a very difficult decision as it is new university but when i came here and met Faculty they told me about MA Economics curriculum I was shocked to know that the course content was much ahead then from those other colleges offering same course in Dehradun then i was sure that i am getting in the one of the best University of India. Being a part of the Pioneer batch of School of Social Sciences Doon University is really exciting as well as challenging at the same time. Hoping to seek a bright future ahead.

Ramanpreet Kaur Nayyar

Ramanpreet Kaur Nayyar, Student of School of Social Sciences, perusing MA. Economics (2010-2012 batch) from Doon University. After being a student of Commerce, I still chose Economics as my subject in my Masters Degree because I want my hold in one particular subject & Economics was always my favourite. As an Economic student, vision towards every aspect becomes more analytical & logical.
Stepping towards Doon University was my own decision. Though making up mind, was little difficult in the beginning, as this is the First batch in the School of Social Sciences. But when I went through the course curriculum & met the Faculty of Economics Department, I was quite satisfied. Being a part of the Pioneer batch is really exciting as well as challenging at the same time. Hoping to seek a bright future ahead. I am glad to be a part of first batch of Economics in Doon University2010-2012.
